This page explains what information annoarcana.com collects when you read the comic, and what happens to it. The short version: the site itself collects very little, but it shows ads from Google, and Google uses cookies to do that.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners are third parties, and they use cookies (and similar technologies such as web beacons) to serve ads on this site and other sites you visit, based on your earlier visits.

• You can turn off personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies for personalized ads at aboutads.info.

Visitor statistics (GoatCounter)

The site counts visits with GoatCounter, which uses no cookies and does not collect personal data. It records which pages are viewed, the referring site, and general details like browser, screen size and country. It doesn't build a profile of you, and visits can't be linked to you. Comments

When you leave a comment, the name you enter, your comment and the time you posted it are stored and shown publicly on that comic page. No email address or account is needed. To prevent spam, the site keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for about 10 minutes, to limit how many comments can be posted in a row. The address itself is never stored.

Your browser remembers the name you last commented with, so you don't have to type it again. This is saved only on your device (in your browser's local storage), not sent anywhere else. If you'd like a comment removed, get in touch (see below).

Bookmarks

The bookmark button saves the page you're on in your browser's local storage, so you can pick up where you left off. It never leaves your device.

Email sign-up (Buttondown)

If you sign up to hear about new chapters, your email address is handled by Buttondown, the newsletter service. It's only used for chapter updates and big Anno Arcana news, and you can unsubscribe from any email. See Buttondown's privacy policy.

Fonts and hosting

The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers to download them. The site is hosted by Netlify, which, like any web host, processes your IP address to deliver pages and may keep it briefly in server logs for security.

Links to other sites

The site links to other places, like Bluesky, Patreon, Ko-fi and itch.io. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
